Death Threat by Vivek Shraya; illustrated by Ness Lee

I bought this book yesterday because I was intrigued by the premise: Artist Vivek Shraya began receiving disturbing letters from a person using their real name and address! Tired of the psychological turmoil the emails were causing her, she reaches out to Ness Lee to create this graphic memoir quoting the text from the emails she received.

After receiving the first letter, she wonders about the person behind it:

She then makes this sad, but all too true observation:

Thankfully, she has the support of friends and family when the weight of the emails threaten to overwhelm her.

When she gets the idea to write this book, the emails stop.

Read the book to read the harassment she faced and see what the harasser does when she announces that she will write this book.

Rating: 5/5 stars. This is not an easy read, but there is something badass and empowering about how Shraya took matters into her own hands. Quite an original way to fight back. I also have to give props to the illustrator. I love the color palette and the use of primary colors.
